His Majesty Charles VII was born in 1403. He was the fifth son of the French king Charles VI and the fact that he would once come to the throne was not expected. However, the difficulties of the Hundred Years War, the madness of his father, who considered himself made of glass, the betrayal of the nobles and intrigues in which his mother, Isabella of Bavaria, was involved, led to the actual collapse of the country. By 1429, only some areas of the Loire Valley remained from royal France, and the young Charles remained the only heir. It was at this darkest moment in history that Joan of Arc came to him, who promised to become the savior of the country.

Charles received Joan with skepticism, and several times tested her declared "holiness" and connection with the Lord: at first, he pretended to be an ordinary nobleman - but the Maid accurately guessed who he was. Then, at the request of his commanders, Charles arranged several more tests for Joan. Official chronicles report that he finally became convinced of Joan's divinity only after the siege of Orleans was lifted. However, it turned out that this happened much earlier. During a one-on-one conversation with the king, Jeanne demanded from Charles his family heirloom - a brooch with magical properties that allow its bearer to broadcast and implant their emotions on other people. Charles initially refused, but circumstances developed so that both of them, along with agents of the Bureau of Temporary Investigation, were dragged into the Dream Realm. Joan and the agents had to deal with the Dauphin's nightmares and fears. The time travelers took over the Englishmen, while Joan dealt with demons and a swamp creature of some kind. Jeanne's victory over Charles's fears gave him confidence, and he gave up the Brooch to the Maid.
