Reaper No. 78273167 “Facade”
Background
Facade does not always come back as a woman, sometimes a man, but Facade is always recognizable and always human. The same eyes. The same demeanor, personality, voice… I do not know if the memories are intact, but I have reason to believe something remains after a short physical life. Every incarnation of Facade mentions dreams, but they aren’t really dreams. They are too vivid, too clear and precise. But more importantly: the same.
Personality
I eavesdrop on the other Reapers. They all find Facade peculiar and strange in all reincarnations, but there is never a quarrel or competition. Facade is always too quiet and reserved to incite something, however unsettling and even somewhat frightening when directly threatened.
I haven’t observed any close relationships between Facade and other Reapers. Any relationships appear to be superficial. Any advances have been met with stoic rejection.
Facade works best alone. The Library, shores, cliffs, room, and typically all secluded places appear to be favorites. Even some places on Earth are regular spots. I’ve also noted Facade may visit regions in the Void, but as per the regulations of the Rotunda of Arches, all these places are of Mariax Stygal’s realm and thus safe. Facade keeps a journal of these adventures.
Every time Facade returns, I assign the same room. I remove nothing, touch nothing, and leave it as is. Facade always accepts it as is, accumulated clutter of the centuries and all. I have noted an affinity for Venetian masks since they first appeared on Earth, as well as glittery and shiny objects; Facade does not appear to discriminate between gold and silver.
Facade is intelligent, demonstrates a deep knowledge and understanding of Voids and their diverse varieties. Seldom does a Void overtake Facade. I haven’t witnessed Facade’s true death; it appears greater Voids in number have the upper hand against Facade. I speculate such an intense fight may merely be weakening, not fatal and after Facade must regenerate. This may explain the persistent reincarnation into a physical form.
Facade excels with use of the scythe. No other Reaper that has wielded one matches the skills I’ve observed. The uniqueness of style is influence by her specialized weapon; a lever hidden in the shaft allows control of the blades angle; a ring at the butt of the shaft is connected to a chain.
Other
I do not know who or even what Facade truly is. I can only speculate why this… consciousness keeps returning, let alone become a Reaper over and over again. On the surface Facade does not present any threat and is truly a superb Reaper in every reincarnation.
I have inquired many times about Facade, but Mariax Stygal’s response is always the same: “Let it be.” And so I must. I hope in time the answer is revealed, but also that it is as grim as my speculations lead me to believe.
