Vindyarr Khrïn
To the Northeast, is the province of Vindyarr Khrïn. Just as fertile and lush as Mäsvell Dinmaar, however what truly makes this province successful is its flat land. Endless flat fields allow for far more practical farming to support larger cities and settlements. However, Vindyarr Khrïn has fewer cities than Mäsvell Dinmaar, but supports a larger population throughout the province and utilizes much more land than could ever be developed in the tropical region.
The largest and most well-known nation of Vindyarr Khrïn is the Valgaartiran. Established in 8,892 A.W., the Valgaartiran set itself apart from every other nation, kingdom, and city-state by composing itself of multiple Houses and sharing governance between the houses and the citizens of its nation. With time, this nation slowly perfected its form of government through trial and error. The Valgaartiran has undergone many reformations, each improving upon the last and ensuring that balance of power was suspended equally across its governing bodies. Many flock to live in the Valgaartiran for its opportunity and progressive ruling. Now an established empire, the Valgaartiran has settlements and extensions in every province.
Geography
The Vindyarr Khrïn is mostly flat with intermittent rolling hills to break the monotony. Closer to Vinde Yal Masvyel, elevation rises as the Ursanistyn mountain range forms. Coastal Vinyarr Khrïn can vary between long stretches of beaches to basalt columns and steep cliffs. The basalt regions extend from Zyendil Maar's coast then turn into a more rocky coast and finally the soft beaches. The Northern coast nearing Vinde Yal Mäsvyel are all swamp lands, notoriously dangerous in the winter as the surface water freezes to a thin sheet one can easily mistake for snowy ground.
Moving South towards Zyendil Maar the landscape may change dramatically. The lush grasslands and rolling hills this province is known for begin to fade into the badlands surrounding the basin of Zyendil Maar. Much of the flora here is parched and starved while the soil infertile and dry. The very edge of the Vindyarr Khrïn plateau marks its border by the 2,065 foot drop into basin.
Following basin edge to the West will evntually bring you to Mäsvell Dinmaar while also giving just one of a few paths then lead down into Zyendil Maar. Mäsvell Dinmaar begins at the mountain range encasing the province. There are several passes through these steep mountain, the more safer being the Ehreyazh Pass to the North or through the Vaulehsoith river.
Scattered throughout Vindyarr Khrïn are freshwater lakes and rivers. The largest and deepest, the blue abyss, lies near the heart of the province. It is riddled with underwater caves and passages, volcanic vents, and remains largely uncharted. The mysteries of this lake to not deter Andeamer from settling around it however. The rivers throughout the province interconnect to a dense trade network between Vindyarr Khrïn and Mäsvell Dinmaar. Some sections are Andeamer-made, expanded upon natural rivers. This network is the Vaulehsoith river. It twists through Vindyarr Khrïn and Mäsvell Dinmaar, reaching well over hundreds of cities and kingdoms and ends in Lake Selgärr in Mäsvell Dinmaar.
Fauna & Flora
Far above the fertile lands of Vindyarr Khrïn roam the yanlä ährayan, the wind-riders. The floW with the breeze and make their home in the clouds, feeding on insects caught in their sticky, sail-like membranes. Despite their size, the wind-riders are light weight. They average a body length of 40 feet, but their long tendril arms can reach up to twice its body length. The body and membrane patterns and color will vary by the region migrated to and appear to respond to available sunlight. The wind-riders wander all across Ënokh, but favor the provinces other than Vinde Yal Mäsvyel. They are also good indicators to when storms may occur, specifically heavy rains or lightening storm, because they either leave that location for a drier place or come to lower altitudes. The wind-riders live their entire lives in the skies from birth until death. When one is near death it began to slowly descend to Ënokh, unable to keep up with its herd. Within a few hours the wind-rider will die left by itself, but it is not uncommon they succumb to predators first.
On the surface of Vindyarr Khrïn, you will find an expansive and diverse ecosystem. Closer to the Mäsvell Dinmaar borders, forests encroach upon the expansive fields. Native flora of this province is tall grass and a variety of bush, fungi, and cultivated crops. There are few forests in Vindyarr Khrïn compared to Mäsvell Dinmaar and not nearly as dense. However the trees of the forest are a unique species which does not grow anywhere else and thus gives Vindyarr Khrïn its own foresting industry.
The flatland of this province is ideal for large-scaling farming needed to support a larger population. Surrounding the Valgaartiran capital is the largest such farm. Here they produce enough crops to feed their citizens as well as export to settlements and trade with other governments. A more unique crop of Vindyarr Khrïn are the edible fungi which are a rarity outside a select few regions in Vindyarr Khrïn and Mäsvell Dinmaar.
Livestock here does not differ than anywhere else on Ënokh, except in numbers. Ihren herds are easier to support here and after a few centuries produced a larger breed identified by their larger set of antlers. However these ihren are not as robust or intelligent as those found in Vinde Yal Mavyel, nor do they seem to fare well with Andeamer caring for them. Därrkh colonies don't differ here; these small creature aren't intelligent no matter where you go so they won't wander far from wherever there is food.
Lohsïath are the most dangerous predator that wander Ënokh. The species in Vindyarr Khrïn is adapted well to camouflaging itself among the fields where it lies and waits for an opportune moment to strike. However, Andeamer can see in color and thus their tactics do not work well on them. Lohsïath are intelligent and typically stay away from Andeamer settlements and rarely attack unless desperate and that is when they are lethal. However, these hunters love to feed on Andeamer livestock. These creatures that stand around five feet tall with an impressive rack of horns and strong claws at their disposal. Andeamer respect them for their strength, cunning, and even resemblance. They rather scare and intimidate the lohsïath than kill one.
The khorsihl are enormous beasts that roams the Vindyarr Khrïn plains in packs numbering in the hundreds. Khorsihl are herbivores that feed on the tall and lush grass blanketing this province. They are valued for their unique scale-leather which comes in a variety of patterns often unique to a particular herd, along with their feathers and down. Much of the khorsihl's hides, feathers, and down can be found in fashion and decor. Less desirable hides wind up as durable leather armors, ropes, and much more.
Ehfäya grow all throughout the oceans of Ënokh. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, composition, and durability. They are valued for their uniqueness and harvested to be made into jewelry, decor, pignments, and much more. They thought of as gifts of Älëas and thus are never to be wasted. They are a crucial part of oceanic eco-system and given their cultural origins, Andeamer abide by an extensive law regarding harvesting and care. Ehfäya can only be harvested from the farm they are grown from and any gathered in the wild is immoral and a slight to Älëas. Of course there are those who don't always abide by the laws set in place, but this can be determined by how ehfäya are harvested. Incorrect methods can lead to the death of the entire colony and the methods used by harvesters are often secretive and take decades to master.
Natural Resources
Throughout Vindyarr Khrïn wanders the enormous house of Mahsïaan. This nomadic house is made up of nearly 32 different families and made their name known as hunters. However not just any hunters, Mahsïaan hunt some of the largest and most dangerous fauna that inhabit Ënokhïa, such as the khorsihl and the terrifying lohsïath. Lohsïath are coveted for their beautiful pelts that come in a variety of colors and patterns which vary regionally; however, it is their internal organs that prove the most profitable given their medicinal qualities used all across Ënokhïa. The khorsihl is a gentle giant, but not as slow and lumbering as they appear. Despite their weight and stature these herbivores can outrun cheetahs by 20mphs. Seldom slaughtered just for their leather anymore, they are also used as beasts of burden by Mahsïaan as well as abundant cattle. The market for these creatures’ meld of feathers and scale hasn’t changed, but the way it which they are produced has. Khorsihl fur is cut instead of the usual methods. Mahsïaan began this practice as these creatures were nearly hunted to extinction a millennium ago. Since then, the governments of Vinyarr Khrïn agreed upon hunting, fishing, and even ehfäya mining laws to ensure sustainability in their economy and exports.
Aside from farming, hunting is the other big industry. The big game that roam this land provide an abundant source of meat and beautiful furs among other resources. Many of the Andeamer here prefer the fur fashion and you would be hard-pressed to find any without some fur in the wardrobe and dress. Easily traveled waters and a long coastline also allows for Vindyarr Khrïn’s fishing and ocean-mining to flourish. The ocean-mining industry is a very complex one made up of many sub-industries that exploit the natural deposits of minerals, gems and metals left from volcanic activity deep in the ocean and even organic materials all present in their waters. Land mining hasn’t established itself as seen in the other provinces, largely due to its unsustainability in this province’s economies.
The organic ocean mining is often one interest to any unfamiliar with the term. Below the surface, typically in the shallow waters lives a coral-like organism called ehfäya. This organism has nearly a thousand sub-species each characterized by its unique growing patterns, coloration, and chemical composition. Miner’s grow ehfäya forests, interbreed species, and experiment with shaping them in order to produce what is used in art, fashion, architecture, and so much more. Ehfäya lives for centuries and many of the forests mined and tended can be accurately placed to have been alive since before the Great War.
