Orcish Faith

@Orcs do not believe in any of the higher planes. There is only the earthly plane and what comes from and returns to it. There is an intense emphasis on the now on foccusing only on what is infront of you, and within your control. Orcs, unlike the humans who worship Tarn do not fear souls getting lost on earth, in fact they welcome it. Seeing the soul as akin to water in that is absorbed and re poured into something new, the way rain becomes puddles becomes the cloud that rains in kind. There is no one individual soul as each souls is comprised of the living things that came before it. Orcish religion does not centre on the actions or morals of any God or individual instead they are guided by their Aspers, a leader figure who if needed advises over the deceased affairs. By denoting burial sites, and delegating the deceaseds' property where needed. If an orcish community does not have an asper this role falls to the oldest in the village.
After death It is customary to bury bodies- often wrapping them in a shrouds, A deep pit is dug and the body is placed feet first almost standing up. They are buried with a handful of seeds which will grow into a tree that has been fertilised by the body. Over time the roots cradle and consume the body bringing forth more life, if there is limited room or if there are multiple members of the same family they may be buried together or underneath an older existing tree. In this case marking are given indicating roughly when someone was buried and their approximate position.
In orcish culture it is great taboo to dig up or cut down young trees as there’s a very good chance someone is under there who still has living relatives.
