Shifter

The shifters are a race of the margins. Biologically, they are on the margin between humanoid and beast. Ecologically, have survived by living on the edge of the Voracious Hills where adaptability is at a premium. Politically, their ability to see both sides often puts them in the role of mediators and diplomats, and this is exactly the function many of them serve in the Beastlands. If you go to a Beastlander embassy (in places where such a thing can exist), you will more often than not find it staffed with shifters.
Incidentally, shifters are the creators of the popular sport colloquially known as "beastball" and traveling exhibition teams of shifter beastball players are sure to draw a crowd in any beastlander settlement they find themselves in.
