The Amphibians are a species found throughout Known Space, mostly on worlds with large amounts of water.

Unique characteristics

The Amphibian species, beyond their eponymous ability to live both above and under water, have developped a number of fascinating evolutionary characteristics.
Amphibians secrete a powerful mucus, which allows them to stick to surfaces and climb up the steepest of walls. They also posess a powerful and lengthy tongue, which can reach about three meters long in some individuals. That tongue was once useful to grab prey, but is now a great new prehensile limb.
