The denomination of "The Green" applies to any plant based lifeform that has achieved sapience.
Origins
Only through extraordinary circumstances can plant based lifeforms achieve sentience. In most instances it is due to industrial or scientific accidents, but there are known cases of intentional creation of individuals connected to The Green.
The Green
The Green itself refers to a yet unexplained connection that all sapient plant based lifeforms experience. Individuals of the species report feeling connected to all plant based life on the planet they are on. Through that connection, members of The Green can often manipulate plant or vegetable material around them.
Scientists have been trying to determine where the sentience of individuals connected to The Green lies, but it has proven largely pointless. In order to "kill" a member of the species, it seems like one needs to completely destroy all plant material connected to it.
