Gist'houh of Igtous

Devout Servant of the Slumbering Lord Tar'tiersous, Future Butcher of All who Disobey (a.k.a. Gist)

He had been here for so long, countless years, and time had now become irrelevant for him. His leathery wings stretched lazily, his head tilting back in a large yawn that showed rows of pointed dagger-like teeth. His name was Gist'houh of Igtous, a devil of the lower planes of the infernal. Gist for short.   Or at least, he was until he had accidentally caught himself in his own curse. He smirked to himself, at least he had also cursed this foul village and it's foolish peasants too. He looked over the now broken village, it's familiar streets empty and dead of life. And Castle Valtus, sitting in grim silence, still overlooking it's long dead residence.   He had spent the first couple decades tormenting the survivors of the curse he had lain the curse on the village. It was fun for a while but he quickly bored of them, they would have saved themselves if they hadn't driven him out so unkindly. All he sought was food and shelter, a quick sacrifice or two would've sufficed. But no, they poked and stabbed at him with their spears and swords. So, he did what any demon would do, he cursed the idiots. But, in his haste, he had forgotten a keyword and he found himself sitting here now in the leftover rot of the city. Waiting for any that were foolish enough to stumble upon this cursed place, deep underground.   Gist leaned back, up against a wide stone chimney stack on a roof he was currently sitting on. He picked up a jar of dried nuts that sat beside him, with one twist of a curved talon he snapped off the lid letting it clattering to the ground several feet below him. He fished his large hand into the opening, grasping a handful. These were a favourite of his, he smiled happily. Before he could toss the handful of nuts into his gaping maw something unexpected caught his eye. Movement, down near the south gate of the village.   Gist leaned forward, still grasping the dried food in his clawed hand. Adventurers, he thought, his eyes widened in surprise. Three of them no less. He watched them enter the village, working their way through the broken and twisted metal and stone of this wretched place. Gist stood in a rush, brushing off the dust of a previously consumed jar of dried nuts. Good, this could be good. Freedom? he thought it could still be a possibility. With a renewed purpose he dove into the air, wings cracking into action.   The demon passed by the shadows of Castle Valtus and cackled in excitement. "Let us go introduce ourselves to our new friends shall we?" Gist said to no one in particular.

Physical Description

Body Features

Gist is a forboding seven foot plus devil creature weighing over half a ton. He is covered in thick scaly skin that is dark purple in colour, some may even think it is black. He has long leathery wings that give him the ability to fly. His entire body is littered with sharp spines, especially on the back of his head and upper back area. Snaking out from his lower back is a long thick tail that ends in a poisonous spike. This tail can easily crush his enemies or cause temporary paralysis if they are struck by the poisoned tip.

Facial Features

Much like the rest of his body Gist's face is covered in a thick scaly skin. He has blood red, pupilless eyes, and a large gaping mouth filled with rows of sharp hook-like teeth. The back of Gist's head and neck are covered with the same spines that cover various parts of his body.

Special abilities

As a devil Gist has access to a small range of spells, these include disguise spells, illusions spells, and more destructive elemental fire spells.

Specialized Equipment

Gist carries few items with him at any given time. However, one item he always has with him is a long forked trident that he uses in battle. He has the ability to magically conceal this weapon upon command.   The only other item he carries with him is a stockpile of dried nuts since it is his favourite food he tried to have some on his at all times if possible. He carries these in small jars that he keeps in a small magical pouch that has a portable dimensional in it.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Gist was born in the lower planes of the Infernal, as many lower devils are he was gifted to a lord as a servant. Gist's master is Lord Tart'tiersous, a devil who has been slumbering in the planes of hell for many eons awaiting the time that he will awaken and travel to the material planes and devour all of those who disobey him. While his master was not around to give direct orders Gist was still tasked with carrying out his lord's desires. This was to travel to material planes and sway the minds of people to his side. And to destroy those that would defy bowing to his name.   However, traveling to material plane is no easy task and takes considerable power and within devil hierarchy, only those that have proved themselves worthy may leave the infernal planes. Gist worked for thousands of years, toiling in the Infernal in order to get his chance at making his way to Fyria. When Gist finally found his way to Fyria he spent hundreds of years traveling the world, gaining many followers for his lord, and slaying many more than that.   One day though, Gist stumbled upon the village of Valtus. A small settlement in what is now known as the Empire of Aldelgis. The village peasants were overlooked by the noble family Valtus, who gazed down at their servants from the tall towers of Castle Valtus. A dark castle that loomed between the mountains of Aldelgis.   Gist would enter the village seeking more people to sway to his lord's cause. But first, he needed a place to rest and some food. He was of course in human disguise, a devil would be caught instantly if he was in his true form.   Many of the details have been lost to time and only Gist knows the full story now but by the end of that night, the village and Castle Valtus would completely disappear. Not a single residence in the village that night would ever be seen again. Some say the villagers discovered Gist's true form and in his rage, he had cursed the village to banishment. Some think the devil simple eradicated the entire village, castle and residences alike in a fit of brutal and callous rage. Flexing his enormous powers to simply disintegrate the whole lot in one swoop.   In truth though, Gist did curse the village in a bout of spite and revenge towards the villagers who discovered his true identity. In his haste, Gist did curse himself and he now resides deep underground with the remnants of Castle Valtus. Many hundreds of years have passed since then. And Gist still waits for an opportunity to escape.   What Gist doesn't know is that he may get that opportunity soon due to the efforts of three adventurers who have suddenly found themselves in the cursed land of Valtus. Though it may come with an unexpected complication for Gist.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Gist is determined to spread the name of his lord and to convince as many weak minded fools to bow to his master's wishes. And to destroy those who do not.   In Gist's current situation he wishes to escape the cursed lands of Castle Valtus and reenter the material planes and continue his initial assignment. What Gist doesn't know is that he may get that chance, though it will certainly come with a major complication.

Likes & Dislikes

Gist's favourite thing in all of the know dimensions is dried nuts. He hates most sweets, especially chocolate.

Vices & Personality flaws

Gist becomes angered when he doesn't get his way or someone figures out one of his cleverly tailored schemes. Gist tends to make rash decisions and commonly makes avoidable mistakes when he is angered. One example of this is Gist accidentally cursing himself after a village angered him causing Gist to rush a cursing ritual he was casting on them.
