The Ruins of Castle Valtus

It is unknown what happened to House Valtus, their castle, village, and of their people. Some say they were cursed by a vengeful demon who was rebuked when seeking refuge within the castle walls. Being turned driving off by the knights who guarded the quaint village. What is obvious is that where the Castle Valtus used to stand is now an empty field, distant mountains in view, a lazy river flowing through gentle hills. Birds chirping, wildlife roaming, but no castle, no village, no people. One day it was gone, curious travellers seeking out the castle finding an empty patch of land.
Unknown and unfound however are The Ruins of Castle Valtus, an empty shell of its former life. Mysteriously transported deep underground, somewhere within the realm of Fyria, its people long dead from lack of resources in their cavernous coffin. Now, all that lies there are monstrous creatures and the roaming corpses of fallen villagers, brought back to roam their fallen home by the sinister curse that was laid upon them hundreds of years ago.

Architecture

An expansive Gothic castle surrounded by a small village, surrounded by dark stone and damp cavern walls. Once vibrant and bright bursting with activity and life it now lays dead and silent, grey and dark, populated by the undead corpses of the former residence.

History

The castle was owned and built by the noble family Valtus, an old family of past valour. Having been founded several hundred years before its eventual disappearance House Valtus held considerable wealth and status. Having access to much, including a large income, a large stretch of land, some political pull, and a modest village of peasants who tended to their lands and paid a tidy pittance in exchange for protection within their walls. A fair family, but one marred in some controversy with several of its family members being accused of treason and publicly hanged some years ago.
Struggling from this scandal the family went through some years of struggle, where they lost most of their political say and status, having to sell off much its land to keep its castle and small village afloat. During this time is when the story of the visiting demon occurs, having been turned away from the castle gates and chased off into the night he swears revenge. A short time afterwards is when the castle and its inhabitants disappear, leaving the rest to mystery and the unknown.
