The Emergence of Don'vur

The emergence of Don’vur is considered the greatest natural disaster in the history of Fyrra. On the 82nd day of Water 1113 DC, the continent of Don’vur suddenly appeared on the eastern part of Tartos, destroying part of the continent and forming the Shattered Lands. This calamity not only brought fysical destruction to Fyrra, but also thousands of new, unknown monsters and – most notably – dragons.   As more than 1800 cycles have passed since the continent’s emergence, historical evidence on the continent's origins is scarce. Consequently, the origins and causes of the sudden emergence of Don’vur remain a mystery to this day. While there are historical entries of stories of seafarers describing the sudden appearance, these stories wildly differ and telling truth from treachery proves to be difficult.   Some scholars link the appearance of Don’vur to the Fall of Gael, others think it might have been a God’s doing. All that is certain is that an entire new continent appeared seemingly out of nowhere, accompanied by new species previously not known in Fyrra.

Influence on religion

Over the course of time several religions have attributed the emergence of Don’vur to their teachings and their deities of preference.   Ruinists claim that the emergence of Don’vur was the first sign of the Angels that the ruin of the world is inevitable. According to them, El’ru had seen visions of the emergence and had led his people to safety to Celyrion.   Most draconic societies claim that the sudden emergence was through The Will of the dragons inhabiting the continent, in order to grace humanity with their presence and their power. While it is clear that the dragons appeared together with Don’vur, it is unclear whether the dragons actually had any kind of influence on the emergence.

Historical importance

The emergence of Don’vur and the appearance of the tyrannical dragons and other draconic beasts have put many existing civilizations into danger. While some submitted to the seemingly almighty beasts by forming draconic societies, others have fought them.   To fight off the dragons of Don’vur, The Triar of Sébar was held, resulting in the Eandalian alliance, which later turned into the The Kingdom of Eandal.
