Lukhas - God of Light and the Sky

Domains:

Light and Trickery   Lukhas is the God of Light and The Sky, and is, togheter with Ubris, the gods of the Fate who were born of Rapha and Raashjo, the Gods of Order and of Chaos. Alternate names used by Lukhas' followers to address him, include "The Prince of Light", "The Son", "The Father of Angels" and "The Messenger". From these two, Lukhas and Ubris, came light and darkness, and when these cosmic forces appeared on Gaea, so did the twins, often called "The Twins of Twilight". Lukhas and Ubris share litte resemblance to one another however, and are by many considered complete opposites in both appearance and in values.   Lukhas is master of all that is light, beautiful and fleeting. He is fond of the material plane and all its inhabitants, and spends his time bringing fine weather and light to the realm, while enjoying music and theatre created by mortals. Lukhas is by many considered to be one of the most involved gods of the Fate, as he is curious and adventurous by nature, and there are many tales of his involvement with mortals. He is known to be fickle however, valuing freedom and fine experiences over loyalty, and although he is immensely powerful, he seldom uses his power to fight for god or evil, but rather teaches his followers to follow their heart, instead of principles or strict morals.   In the mythology of the Fate, Ubris was first gifted the shadowfell, the Plane of Shadow while Lukhas was given what is today known as the Feywilds, the previous Plane of Light. However, when Nave and Eyr were born, and the two reflections of the material plane shifted to reflect this change, Lukhas gave Eyr the feywilds, and Ubris gifted the shadowfell to Nave. Lukhas left the feywilds solely to Eyr, and it is now very different from the original plane of light.   The Fate also tells the tale of how Lukhas found mortal life fascinating, and thus created his own recreation of life in the shape of the Angels of Light, some for himself, and some for his dear friend Selune, the moon. These perfect beings were immortal, created by Lukhas' light in the image of the life on Gaea. In all aspects they were perfect, but after a while they became prideful and full of hubris, and eventually Lukhas is said to have cast them down to the material plane, severing their wings and their ties to the light, to teach them a lesson about humility. These are believed to be the ancestors of the long-lived high elves, and would eventually become the sun and the moon elves, respectively. Some elves seem to have retained traits from this divine ancestry, and are sometimes born as Avariel, winged mortal with divine magicks and exceptionally long lifespans. Aasimar is the same word for these mortals who are born from other races, and although no one knows why this trait sometimes appears in certain bloodlines, it is believed that Avariel and Aasimar are blessed by Lukhas himself.   Lukhas himself is often depicted as a stunningly beautiful young man with blonde hair and flawless tan, or porcelain white skin, golden eyes, and large feathery wings. The sun elves, who have a special relationship to the god, most often make statues and art of the god where is he a slim and dignified man of high elven appearance, while many humans depict him as a younger, more youthful, human teenager.   The God of Light and The Sky is recognized by all who follow the Fate, but are especially well-loved by sun elves, minstrels, archers and explorers. In sun elven mythology, Lukhas is the son of Sol, the Aspect of the Sun, and is thus called "the Son" where Sol is "the Father". The sun elves, being direct descendants of the Angels, believe that they need to prove themselves worthy in Lukhas' eyes, so that he will again grant them immortality, and let them reside with him in the everlasting light once more. Because of this, the Avariel are worshipped in sun elven society, and are considered the ultimate lifeform, holy and perfect, in the eyes of Anar Tal, the city of the sun elves.
