Selune - Aspect of the Moon
"Let all on whom my light falls be welcome if they desire to be so. As the silver moon waxes and wanes, so too does all life. Trust in my radiance, and know that all love alive under my light shall know my blessing. Turn to the moon, and I will be your true guide."
Selune, also known as Lady of Silver, the Moonmaiden, and the Night White Lady, is the most prominent figure in the worship of the Aspects. Traditionally Selune has been very involved in the affairs of mortals, mortherly and caring in nature, but after the shattering of the Moon the goddess has been silent and her followers have been left having to find their way without her gentle light shining the way forward for them.
The Fate tells the tale of how Lukhas, the god of the Light, became fond of Selune, and that he created angels in her image as a gift to the Aspect. These beautiful creatures were the first Moon Elves, winged and gifted with otherwordly grace, they lived side-by-side with their mother Selune for an eon, but when the angels of both Lukhas and Selune became arrogant with hubris, they were cast down to the earth, their wings clipped and their immortality taken from them. Selune however, never despised her children for their flaws, and even after her angels fell to the earth like fallen stars, she continued to guide them with her divine light.
Selune is often depicted as a tall, white lady covered head to toe in silky white fabrics, her hair long and straight. Most popular artwork and statues of the goddess give her features similar to those seen in the Moon Elves, due to her strong connection to the race.
