Flintrock

Flintrock is a rural community that would be one of little note to any born outside of its immediate area, if not for its location on the path between the provincial capital Metilene and the Tomb of Manuel II, an important site of pilgrimage for the Manuelism heresy.

Defences

The village of Flintrock is built around a hillfort named The Ancient Citadel by locals. The ancient citadel features thick stone walls, now weathered with age and covered with moss, a large central courtyard, and a keep built into the hill and reinforced with compressed earth. Incomplete raised earth palisades protect the outer village to some degree.

Industry & Trade

In the outskirts of the village, there exists a healthy industry in mining and processing the cinnabar present in the hills. Most involved in the refinement of the quicksilver and vermillion dye are slaves owned and overseen by the Goldsmith’s Guild of Metilene, which pays an annual tribute to Eusebius Aristenos for the rights to the land.

Architecture

The houses in Flintrock are single-room structures constructed from fieldstone and thatched rooves. A single open doorway stands in the wall, and doors are woven from branches and lowered into the open doorways and barricaded at night.

The Ancient Citadel is also a single-room structure constructed of compressed earth and lined with the same stones that make up the walls of the hillfort, with a wooden partition in the back proving a private quarters for the ruler of the village. The central room is made up of a large fire pit and a series of row tables arranged before the central throne.
