Harbor of the Hanged

The Harbor of the Hanged is a large harbor-town built on the coast of the Gasping Bay and the Blackdagger-Cliffs. The town is controlled by the vampire High-Captain Marino di Fratili and thus populated by the living and undead alike. Dark Clouds blot out any natural sunlight and the streets are only dimly lit by lanterns and torches, while many party of the town are shrouded in shadow and mist.

Industry & Trade

Because of its geographical location and lax restrictions on wares the Harbor is an active trade hub, despite its unwelcoming appearance. Many wares from recent corsairs raids along the Summer Sea are exchanged for coin and manufactured wares from the other cities on Yatangar.

History

Before the takeover by Marino di Fratili the settlement was already a prominent place of trade for corsairs. Though the town of Wellwave was much less developed and fortified by that point. There was a consensus among the corsairs to keep conflict away, so that the trade here could continue uninterrupted.
Since the takeover the undead workers and slaves of the High Captain have toiled hard to raise buildings and fortifications.

Points of interest

The Old Wolf   In the vicinity of the manor of the harbormaster, lies the cozy inn of The Old Wolf. It has nice rooms with all the little pleasures a weary mortal could need after a long journey on the sea, provided they have the coin to pay for it. The elderly owners Kadin and Ifra Shahiba do there best to provide for a restfull stay, while their pet wolf Teran watches over the inn and his owners.   The Rats Nest   This rough tavern has always a full stock of cheap booze and liqour, so that a simple corsair deckhand may quench their thirst. They also provide simple accommodations for any sailor who had too much to drink to make it back to their ship. The bar is run by three orc brothers from the distant lands of Evigbloda.   Captains Cove   Any patron with silver and gold to spare is welcomened in this palace of pleasure. Be it fresh food, fine drink, a warm bath or charming company, all that you could desire, can be found here. Whores of all origin, shapes and sizes tend to the guests under the watchfull eye of the young madame Aurelia.   Flesh-Market   In this run-down brothel within an old warehouse sailors can purchase company in the neverending nights for a few copper. The Flesh-Market mostly employs "free whores" who can make some quick coin here, as long as the house gets it cut. The owner Atif Farooq himself seems to be stiched together from different body parts of a variety of peoples. Where he gets those parts, only few dare to ask.   Sunken Treasure   This old crypt was turned into a shop for wide array of wares, as well as some items of magical properties. The shopkeeper is a ghost in the form of a young boy by the name of Yahya.   Bubbling Bottle   Within an oddly colorfull building lies a shop for potions, tinctures, cosmetics and other products of alchemy. Like the outside, the inside is also warm, welcoming and permeated with the smells of sweet burning herbs. The halfling owner of this establishment Lady Keeva Wistlebush herself is an extravagant individual seemingly undisturbed by the grim world outside her doors.   Ascension Manor   At most times cries of pain can be heard from the imposing manor. While it mainly is a temple of Loviatar, it also acts as an hospital for wounded sailors. Though the priests of the goddess of pain make sure that every patient will ahve to suffer a large amount of pain before they are healed.    House of Mirrors   This temple to the Bloody Bride is a place for anyone who carry hate and revenge in their heart. In the center of the temple is a large pit with a labyrinth of mirrors and steelbars above. Here accusers can hunt down, those who wronged them and enact their bloody revenge, while the clergy watches.
