Meridian Confederacy

The nation of Meridian is stoked in noble history. Seven houses divide the power among each other. The confederacy has agreed to stage the large city of Meridian as their central location of power. Each house otherwise claims their own capital city and its included towns.   Despite being part of the Alliance, The city views most other races with indifference, even employing some of the beastmen to their guilds and houses. The nobility only cares for their prosperity and not how one looks.

Structure

The Seven Noble Houses of Humans are the primary driving force behind the nation's political State. The following Houses are the names of the Nobles. House Ikin, House Tathar, House Koronos, House Savente, House Velevic, House Dami, House Retreyo

Public Agenda

The Safety, growth and prosperity of the people who call these lands home. The nation focuses mostly on trade as it has a key location on the continent in which it sits.

Assets

The Confederacy has many assets available to them. The city it self is a well fortified capital city, with a representative of each house present. There is a standing Military of several thousand men, a sizable navy, and a small airforce. The city states in which also call this nation home share the benefits of each of the noble homes. Each one of the houses claims a city as thier own capital and the surrounding towns as their own. Due to the trade that the unification had brought, the confederacy is seen as one of the most richest nations of all Gaia.

History

Meridian was a city that was originally founded as a merchant trade center between the seven noble houses and their respective City States. Over time, the city grew as people moved in to take care and to open shops to sell their wares. Due to the situation of the city upon a river delta, the city was easily accessed by all of the people of the Free Cities. Eventually a decision was made to protect, and grow the city proper, to bring in even more merchants.   Not long after the population had exploded and was the largest city State of the reigion, The houses had then decided that this was to be thier symbol and beacon of hope, establishing the Oligarchy now known as The Meridian Confederacy.

Demography and Population

The lands of the confederacy are divided among the seven noble houses and their realms. Each acting as a semi-independant city state that does it best to remain within the overall vision of the nation. Each Noble House has a large piece of land that acts as a territory, or state, overseen by the Noble Elder. Each one acts as a governor to look after its people and economy, as well as laws and legalities.   The Birth Rates are normal for a human population. A nation mostly at peace, life expectancy is set at around 80 years of age, though it is not unusual for people to live beyond 100. As the Death rate is relatively low, the nation's secluded location has it avoid most conflict.

Territories

The lands held by the Confederacy are traditionally human lands that were held by lords back in the old days. The humans had expanded, fought with each other, and tested its reach around the deep woods that surround the nation itself. The lords had eventually learned to coexist, and eventually unify under the Confederacy, with the goal of the nation being the overall well being of the humans who had lived there for generations.

Military

There is a rather large standing military. Most are volunteers that see the needs of all to be protected. Thier weapons are fairly up to date in comparison to the rest of Gaia. Their navies and Airship Airforce are sizable, and able to be deployed at a moments notice.

Technological Level

The nation is fairly modern compared to Gaia. The yare not as advanced as they rely on old ways, however the influence they get from traveling merchants and mages rubs off on their population and inspires them regularly. For most advanced research, research treaties are required to amass the resources needed.

Religion

The Five are the primary human gods that most see as their deities. However some druidism has surfaced within the outskirt cities and settlements of the nation. The State practices free religion, but officially recognizes teh Five as their state Religion.   There is no punishment for worshipping something else, as long as it does not intentionally impede on the aspirations of the Confederacy.

Agriculture & Industry

Meridian is mostly an agricultural power. They have industries closer to the ocean's coast and within the mountains. However msot of the land is fertile farming, as the nation sits in a basin that has several rivers running through it.

Trade & Transport

Cargo is mostly transported by airship. As these ships are rather large and can c arry large amounts of goods, Most cities have Aerodromes that service these flying machines. Closer to the coast, ships move cargo along the ocean, supplemented by the Airship Teamsters.

Education

Education is a fairly simple public education system. Most are of Highschool graduates with a top fifteen percent of the nation receiving college degrees. Most in the Agricultural arts. The Nobles however keep their children away from the public and often send them to Private schools or homeschools.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure of Meridian is complex, There is a network of roads, rails, and highways as well as an established airship route. Most of the activity happens near the ocean, as the largest cities are found there.
