Emane
Emane started as one of many kingdoms on the central island of Quill built at the base of the Quill Mountains. Emane was of comparable strength to that of the strongest kingdoms but seemed incapable of controlling the entire island. Until 493 years ago Emane had a massive and mysterious boom in power as its magotechnology expanded in scope and sophistication to a level unseen with any other kingdom. The once belligerent and divided island was brought together under one rule by Emane. Over the next dozen decades, Emane would take over the rest of the archipelago, placing all but Golas under their rule. The primary focus of Emane is to control and protect the lives of its citizens, believing that the government should have a strong and pervasive presence in all aspects of life to ensure the best lives for its citizens.
The country is advanced, with modern-day technology and powerful magics mixing to form impressive magotechnology superior to much of the modern era’s accomplishments. Manipulators of all walks of life are pushing the boundaries of what is possible, occasionally through less than ethical means, and logic, reason, and deduction are the ideals every culture upholds. The country has no official religion nor gods, but such beliefs are allowed to be had. Advancements are not perfectly distributed around the nation, with some areas having running electricity, the internet, and flying ships while others just barely have working waterwheels.
The country is a meritocracy led by the Council of Magi, the best performing manipulators in the entire country, and a First Magister who is voted in by the Council. The High Council of Magi creates laws and legislation while the First Magister directs the goals and policy of Emane for their term.
