Forest Gnomes of Nak

Nestled deep within the enchanted Mooncrest, the hidden village of Nak is a place few have ever seen, protected by powerful ancient magic. Led by Tiber Knackle, the village’s tavern keeper and elected elder, the Forest Gnomes of Nak live a simple, rustic life, foraging and hunting in the shadow of towering trees. These gnomes are a humble and resourceful people, their lives intertwined with the rhythms of the forest. Unbeknownst to the outside world, Nak also serves as the guardian of a great secret—the resting place of the Finite Lance, also known as the Dragon Lance, an artifact of the Windslayer family. Hidden away by an Eastking of old, the village stands as a quiet sentinel over this powerful relic, its location known only to a select few. The gnomes, bound by their duty and a deep respect for the land, keep their village veiled from prying eyes, ensuring that the Lance remains safe from those who would seek to wield its power.
The tranquil life of the Forest Gnomes in the hidden village of Nak was shattered when Tiber Knackle, their elder and leader, was murdered by his own son, Christopher. Christopher’s betrayal and subsequent flight left the village reeling, and with his departure, the ancient magic that had protected Nak began to wane. Sages sought safety elsewhere as the magical veil faded, the village became vulnerable to the outside world, and the gnomes, who once felt safe in their secluded haven, began to fear for their future.
The awakening of dragons in the greater world drew the attention of the Kingfishers, an ancient dragon-slaying faction. These formidable hunters raided Nak, taking with them the sacred Finite Lance, the Dragon Lance, hidden for generations. The loss of their leader, their home, and their most treasured artifact left the gnomes in despair, their village no longer the sanctuary it once was.
However, all was not lost. The Merkaynian Enclave and the adventurers known as the Shatterbrand arrived in time to save the surviving gnomes, though their beloved village was destroyed in the battle. With no place left to call home, the gnomes were taken in by the Shatterbrand, who had recently been granted an island in the Pacuran Archipelago. Now, the Forest Gnomes of Nak live as refugees in this distant land, striving to rebuild their lives in the shadow of the tragedies they have endured.
