Battle of Golubov

The Battle of Golubov was a battle in Kena. This was a major battle after Operation Delirium had failed, and also decided the rest of the Eastern Front in Whena.

The Conflict

Deployment

Ios deployed more than 200,000 men and 500 tanks to take Golubov initially, and Whena troops had only over 100,000 troops at the time of the first assault.

Battlefield

The battlefield was a war torn city with huge fires occuring almost daily, and long lines of barbed wire and bunkers on the countryside.

Conditions

There was a lot of flooding in the Golubov city, which led to many swamped vehicles and increased difficulty in logistics, which has it's own set of issues.

The Engagement

After Delirum, Raphs generals decided that Kena would be dealt with by encircling the 9th army in Golubov in a heavily air-supported attack, then split the Kenish command in half, taking the south of Kena in a swift move, then dealing with Whena afterwards to take care of the mountainus north of Kena, although there were many problems with this plan, espically underestimating how affective the "old but effective" Kenish air fighters are.   Even though there were plains in the area of fighting, the Iosians fought directly in the city, which meant brutal close quarter fighting for everyone involved. Whenish even went in underground to flank the enemy, and once more troops were brought in with 3 Chegao Gunships, casualties skyrocketed as friendly fire occurred within the Iosians. One of the Chegao Gunships were brought down by heavy AA fire and SA missiles, bringing it down in a spectacular plume of fire.   The Kenish commander, Forêt Paix, decided he had no choice but to launch human wave tactics against the Iosians invading the city This quite stupid plan would later cost the 9th army the entire battle. Half of the Kenish soldiers didn't even have rifles anyway, so they had to use the enemies weapons. Tanks played a big role as well, as 900 light Durhan tanks were given to the Kenish and the Iosian 3rd army only had 300 tanks, which were mixes of the E-86 and the Sliftelm tanks.   -Dead Kenish troops near a ruined building, August 2nd, 1912-
Ostor joined Ios a month before the battle, but these troops were poorly trained and also were practically POWs, so they were an easy target. Once the Iosians gained control in the center of the city, the Whenish and everyone circled the troops in the center of the city as they cut off their supply.   Some of the heaviest fighting ever in the entire war was in this short battle, as constant waves of soldiers and tanks would bombard the Iosians for long periods of time, often with melee attacks as well. Iosian Bombers were also armed with firebombs, decimating the city. WVC, the main news station covering this front, also ordered its journalists to cover everything they could, declaring it an "censorless war" since atrocites against civilans were very heavy in this battle, which led to the public seeing the horror that was Golubov.   Ostren AT outside of Golubov, July 31st 1912-
Paix also had is reputation tainted by launching sucidal attacks, and shunning soldiers who acted like "cowards", which were soldiers who refused to go in the city and join the massacre. They would have a difficult time anyways, since Golubov sits inside a depression, which led to heavy flooding in the city. Many troops navigated the city by trenches with a drainage system or by boat.   Due to Paix resighning in August 12th, the battle suddenly ended with the Kenish 9th army surrending since the new commander of the army, Yerp Kahn, wanted to end the battle as soon as possible to avoid complete destruction of the 9th army.   -Iosian soldiers walk past a downed Whenish plane, August 8th-
