Apocalypse Bar

One of the most popular places in Ardan, the Apocalypse Bar is also one of its oldest establishments. It has had a succession of owners over the years, but its general purpose--as a place where people can eat, drink, meet, and gossip--has remained relatively constant. Its current owner, the musician Dagger has added to the bar's reputation by turning it into an entertainment hub as well. Dagger herself performs regularly, and when she's not performing, there is a succession of other musicians and bands from across Taebur and even the rest of the continent.   While the bar has always been a place to pick up gossip and news, the quantity and accuracy of this also seems to have increased since Dagger took over. It's become a place where people can find information about all kinds of things, including less-than-savoury or difficult-to-acquire information. There's always someone there who knows something, or knows someone who knows someone who knows something. Dagger herself can usually point people in the right direction. Of course, the people in possession of knowledge usually want a little something in return for passing it on.   Many people use the bar as a place to meet and do business. Rival organizations and gangs accept it as a neutral location, and Dagger enforces a strict non-violence rule. Bar fights do happen on occasion, but the bar's bouncers break them up quickly and remove those involved.

Architecture

The exterior of the Apocalypse Bar is a mixture of wooden walls and stone supports. There are clear signs of the multiple times the building has been repaired over the years with differing levels of competence. In some places, holes have just been patched over with planks of wood. In other places, portions of the wall have been meticulously replaced in their entirety (noticeable due to different kinds of wood than the original being used). Overall, the exterior has something of a hodgepodge appearance.   Inside the main entrance is the common room with enough tables and chairs to seat four dozen people. It is not uncommon for all these seats to be taken. However, there is plenty of standing room as well. The stage is in a corner to the right of the entrance. The bar itself is directly across from the entrance. Dagger employs three bartenders who work one at a time in shifts.   Beyond the common room, there are four private meeting rooms that people can rent from Dagger. The larder and kitchen are behind the bar, and beyond them are Dagger's private residence and the residence of her backup singers, Sprig and Twig. Upstairs are four small, modest rooms that Dagger rents out for overnight stays. She can be picky about who she lets stay overnight, however.   There is also a cellar.
