Issa is currently the longest-serving member of
the Coop's executive council, having risen to the position when she was only 18 years old after her parents died during the Coop's ill-fated attempt to visit the
City of Cartoons This has heavily shaped her approach to governing the Coop. She tends to be very vocally opposed to any alteration to the Coop's route and to the Coop offering guide services to people exploring the wilderness. In particular, she was outraged by the event that has become known as
"Desert Winds", and it has given her a lot more influence on the council. Although she is known for being stern and strict, she is highly respected, both for her long years of service and her reputation for being level-headed.
Issa is openly critical of both CEO
Fazul Pareen and CFO
Naja Sereen. In particular, she believes that Naja's reversal of
Ebdul Evrayl's policies stem from sentimentality and lack of business acumen, and threaten to bankrupt the Coop.
Issa is the older sister of
Zayd Fana, and she is one of the few people he will acquiesce to.

Issa and Naja do not generally get along when it comes to the Coop's business. Issa feels that Naja only took the position out of a sentimental desire to "protect" the alpacas. However, that protection threatens to bankrupt the Coop and thus, in the long-run, will cause more harm to the alpacas than the policies Naja got changed.

Issa feels that Fazul is too easily manipulated by other members of the council (particularly the ones she is opposed to). She believes he tries too hard to find compromises and doesn't have the skill at it that someone like Zak Manir has.
On the other hand, Fazul states that he believes Issa to be a valuable member of the council. While they may often disagree, her long experience is vital to the continued health of the Coop.
