Old Mother

Very little is known of Old Mother. Stories told by survivors of journeys into Old Fastur say that the gangs and creatures there speak reverently of someone or something they call "Old Mother". Beyond the name, however, there is little consistency in the stories of Old Mother. Some say she lives in catacombs beneath the city. Others say she lives in the hollowed-out remains of one of the tallest buildings and flies out (at times that vary) to hunt those living in the city. Still others say she is a shadowy, near-invislble being who sneaks up on people unawares and takes them. It is said that some of the gangs and creatures in the ruins worship Old Mother like some sort of god. Others see her as an abomination that must be appeased with sacrifices. Others just try to stay out of her way. Whatever their individual beliefs about her, all fear her, and what they call "Old Mother's embrace".
Recently, word about her has been spreading across Taebur with small cults devoted to her springing up here and there. There is even a music group, the Harbingers who perform in her honour and to proclaim her coming. Some of their music includes a vocalist that some say is Old Mother herself. The various cults speak of a temple dedicated to Old Mother in Old Fastur, but just like Old Mother herself, there is no evidence that this temple exists.

The Harbingers Concert

Old Mother had her first public appearance, performing with the Harbingers as lead singer at the Dizzy Opera House in Momma, on 21 Dec, 98 AF. There was a great deal of hype leading up to the performance, and Dizzy Corporation provided heavy security the day of--so much security that security in the rest of Momma and other parts of the City of Cartoons had to be significantly reduced. The performance has received rave reviews and everyone who was there said that Old Mother had the most beautiful voice they had ever heard.
It cannot be said for sure that the individual calling herself Old Mother who performed in the concert is the same Old Mother of the legends. However, her followers in the Children of Old Mother and the Harbingers claim she is, and most who heard her perform believe it.
