This is the ninth report on the activities of Subjects 4777, 4778, 4779, 4780, 4781, and 4782, along with their relationship to, and interactions with Subject 1. Data for this and all other reports on these subjects have been gathered through mostly secondary and tertiary sources, with only occasional data from the primary sources themselves. As such, these data may be subject to the degradation effects of copying from one source to the next. For full reliability percentages, see the attached charts.
Day 137 of 4,543,626,881 (17 May of 98 AF in Local Notation)
Following the deliberations of the Coop's executive council over whether Darmand Evrayl was guilty of the crimes he was accused of (see Report 8 and earlier reports for further information), Subject 4777 (designated "Dante" and referred to as such henceforth in this report) went to see recused council member designated "Naja Sereen". Subject 4781 (designated "R.A.N.C.H.E.R." and referred to as such henceforth in this report) went to speak with the council CEO, Subject 4112 (designated "Fazul Pareen" and referred to as such henceforth in this report). The latter conversation appears to have been about whether or not Darmand should be exiled from the Coop, though exact details are unclear.
Day 138 of 4,543,626,881 (18 May of 98 AF in Local Notation)
After deliberating well into the previous night, the executive council spent the entire morning and part of the afternoon in continued deliberations over the fate of Darmand Evrayl. Finaly, in late afternoon, Fazul Pareen made an announcement to the entire Coop on behalf of the council. He confirmed that Darmand Evrayl did indeed confess to attempting to murder Naja Sereen using the venom of a grey scorpion. Fazul described the events that began on the night of Day 130 (see Report 5 for more details), and then the subjects' subsequent investigation. He announced that Darmand's associates, Coop members designated "Ned Achma", "Emanwell Khouri", and "Chris Farrant", would be shown leniancy since they were not directly involved in the attempts on Naja's life, only in assisting Darmand in acquiring the poison used. The council would be seizing all but one alpaca share from each of them, but there would be no further punishment.   Fazul then announced that Darmand had been permanently stripped of his council position and the council would be seizing all his alpaca shares, which would leave him no longer a member of the Coop. Darmand was given one week to put his affairs in order, after which he would be exiled from the Coop and no longer allowed to travel with them.   At the end of his speech, Fazul told the Coop members that the council would answer any further questions they had the next day.
Day 139 of 4,543,626,881 (19 May of 98 AF in Local Notation)
In the early afternoon, the executive council began setting up a table where they would fulfil their promise to answer the questions of Coop members. See Report 732 in the Taebur series for details of this question-and-answer session.   While the council was setting up, however, council member designated "Lulu Mahad" spoke privately with the subjects. It is not clear exactly what was said, but given that the subjects swiftly departed the Coop during the question-and-answer session, it would seem that the council sent them on yet another mission. Other than the fact the subjects headed south, no sources in the Coop knew where they were going or why.   However, other sources report that the subjects arrived in Na in the early evening and remained at an inn there overnight.
Day 140 of 4,543,626,881 (20 May of 98 AF in Local Notation)
On the morning of this day, the subjects departed Na, heading west. Although there are no specific reports between this time and their reaching Zal in the late afternoon, their most likely route given their initial heading was towards the Western Mountains until reaching the road running north-south between Zal and Ardan. At this point, they presumably turned south and followed the road to the western edge of the Grand Canyon and down the winding trail there to Zal.   Upon arriving in Zal, the subjects began searching for a place to stay. Not finding one, Subjects 4779, 4780, and 4782 (designated "Rolanda", "Ackers", and "Dwin" respectively, and referred to as such henceforth in this report) went with Dante to find a campsite east of the town. Meanwhile, R.A.N.C.H.E.R. and Subject 4778 (designated "James" and referred to as such henceforth in this report) began asking around town after Subject 422 (designated "Federman" and referred to as such henceforth in this report). For more information on this subject, see Taebur reports 235 through 245 as well as Amul reports 50, 120, and 237, but in short, Federman runs a business in Zal called Firebrand Chemicals, which produces products ranging from pharmaceuticals to poisons to explosives.   This would seem to indicate the subjects' purpose in coming to Zal would still be related to the attempted poisoning of Naja Sereen. Since Darmand Evrayl had already confessed, it is not entirely clear why they would want to do more investigating. It is therefore fair to assume that there are additional aspects to the situation that have not been made public. Perhaps the journey to Zal is to investigate the additional vials of poisons and antidotes the subjects discovered in Darmand's car. Could they fear other poisonings by people loyal to Darmand?   As Federman is well known in Zal, R.A.N.C.H.E.R. and James quickly determined Federman's location, but chose not to visit him right away, but instead to return to the other subjects. However, this was not to gather everyone together. Instead, the subjects chose to send Dante alone (though R.A.N.C.H.E.R. remained within a few blocks of Dante in case Dante called for help). Dante went to The Lazzar's Den, an exclusive tavern for only very select clientele. Unfortunately, we continue to be unable to gain a source in the tavern. As such, all that can be said for sure is that Dante managed to schedule a meeting with Federman for the next day.
Day 141 of 4,543,626,881 (21 May of 98 AF in Local Notation)
One source reports that at approximately 0400, two of the subjects drove through Zal and up the trail ascending the western wall of the canyon. About an hour later, they returned through town and back to their camp. Due to the unusual time, no other sources can corroborate this, but the source is insistent on one unusual aspect: A tent was erected on the trailer pulled by the subjects' SUV. This trailer is where R.A.N.C.H.E.R. usually rides since the synthetic is too large to fit comfortably inside the SUV. In this case, however, R.A.N.C.H.E.R. was squeezed inside the vehicle and there was only one other subject present, who was driving. The source didn't get a clear look at the driver, but what they did see suggests Dwin was driving. The tent was present both times. It is unclear what the purpose of this journey was.   Speculation: The subjects' camp came under attack by a pair of arks that had been released a couple hours before. See Amul Report 422 for additional details about this otherwise unrelated event. It is very possible, even likely, that the arks could have come across the subjects' camp by pure chance, forcing the subjects into a confrontation. Two arks are unlikely to be a match for the subjects, and the arks were likely subdued or killed. The subjects then chose to transport the arks (alive or dead) to the wilderness west of the Grand Canyon. The tent was to hide the arks' presence from any observers. It is an unusual decision and difficult to explain. If the arks were dead, it would be simpler to bury or hide the bodies if the subjects didn't want them discovered. If the arks were still alive, releasing them back into the wild would be an extremely dangerous choice given arks' general hostility towards humans and human-descended mutants. However, this is the only explanation that fits the available facts.   That afternoon, at the prescribed time, the subjects met with Federman. Again, there are no details on what they discussed. However, Federman left about an hour later, apparently not distressed, and returned to his warehouse. The subjects emerged sometime later, also undistressed, so it would seem their discussions were successful.   However, it has also become evident that we are not the only ones monitoring these subjects in Zal. A reliable source indicates that Subject 23 (designated "Nina Amul") has ordered surveillance on the subjects. More information to follow when available.
