STATIC 33: To Brannok's Patch
General Summary
Wherein the Blinkertons follow Venomhead's lead
Navigating New Carydam
The Interdimensional Blinkerton Detective Agency, having dispatched the Displaced Owlbears, patched up their friend Froggi and settled in for a nice chat. It turns out that Froggi is new to New Carydam, but kinda going with the whole Displacement flow--why worry about what you can't control, after all? He is worried, however, about his rival-turned-brother Wabash. Apparently they've been separated for some time, and the last time Froggi and Wabash talked, he was a bit depressed. Having no other plans for the moment, he agreed to accompany our heroes to meet with Messelum and Rare Zoramar. The Blinkertons made their way to the Fickle Fortune Palace of Entertainments and met with Freeholder Rare and Messelum. There, they received their retaining fee, updated the city administrators, and were updated in turn. It seems that there have been some thoughtful conjectures made about Skeinshale and its magical properties perhaps being linked to The Displacement. Mess and Rare agreed to look into this, and chat with Froggi, as our heroes sought out Venomhead and pondered that strange riddle--where there is nothing, there is Dream. Where there is Dream, there is Memory. Chasing down that particular lead led them to be briefly Displaced by a Void Trap, which was unpleasant. It also lead them to be Displaced to the watery palace of Shazzah the Beloved--a kindly marid who offered them a meal and an audience with another inter-planar wanderer, Ventril Kassovar, who looked a whole lot like Venomhead. It turned out this entity was Venomhead, but a Venomhead from another plane of reality. He suggested that they need to find their Venomhead and let the Goddess of Dream guide them to where they need to go. Apparently, there's a Goddess of Dream and Venomhead is "one of hers." Perhaps this could be the Dream in the strange riddle? Interesting! Anyway, a nice meal was shared, and it had magical effects. Sharkbait found his skin covred in white feathers, and desired to make this change permanent. Hypatia gained the ability to converse with plants for a tenday. Goos was temporarily transformed into a sheep while Corinna aged very rapidly, and then "un-aged" just as quickly. Nero, however, was blessed with a truly fine meal--one that made him feel stronger in every respect. Nice!To Brannok's Patch
Eventually, Venomhead was located, muttering his strange gibberish as always. This time, however, he seemed to be expecting our heroes, and told them he was to lead them to where they needed to go. But first, they needed sleep. They all returned to No Future to do just that, and Venomhead spent the night sketching out a map of sorts. It became clear that this was a map of Brannok's Patch, so that must be where they needed to go. They set out the next morning, entered the Patch, and were quickly ambushed by some enterprising weretigers. The Goddess of Dream, whose name, it seems, is Alomera, emerged via Venomhead and assisted them in this encounter. Afterwards, she bade our heroes to speak with her, as she didn't have much time. And That's Where We Left It
We'll discover what the Goddess has to say to our heroes during our next session.Varied & Sundry Details
