Raptor House

Purpose / Function

Raptor Houses are the post offices for Anvilwrought Raptor messengers across Geloriel, owned by the international company Raptor Post that originated in Kurn Darum. Each Raptor House is owned by a Raptormaster, typically one with the knowledge to create new Anvilwrought Raptors. Each house contains a miniature forge and anvil to create new raptors, an aviary for the Anvilwrought Raptors when they are not carrying messages, a private closet-type room for the sender to record the message into the Raptor in, and a reception to purchase the services of an Anvilwrought Raptor or the Raptormaster.

History

The first Raptor House was built in Kurn Darum in the early-to-mid Third Age, in a short time after the creation of the first Anvilwrought Raptors. A group of worshippers of Moradin who were each granted the ability to create the Raptors banded together in a group soon to be called "Raptor Post," who would offer the services of their Anvilwrought Raptors as efficient short-range messengers in exchange for coin. Their business would soon take off, and they would begin to set up other Raptor Houses throughout the multiple layers of Kurn Darum. Their business would become very profitable throughout Kurn Darum, and they would soon expand in the Fourth Age into the Viscounty of Thal Aelari, and soon into the burgeoning Brekarian Empire. Even after the Empire dissolved into its three successor nations, they were frequent proprietors of Raptor Houses, as well as purchasers of Anvilwrought Raptors themselves.
During the Thronetaker's War, Raptor Houses were used to communicate information between high-ranking members of the developing nations, as well as for their usage of Raptors as spies to repeat valuable secret information from enemy nations. Later, during the Great Neal-Kenerese War, the Raptors of Raptor Houses were used for similar purposes.
