Kaz Riley

Kaz Riley of K'arth was the last Tene'ztari that Varn Tene'ztari trained in the Era of Beginning.
He inadvertently destroyed his island home when he released an ifreeti that burnt the fortress to the ground, leaving only melted stone and charred corpses.
Kaz set off on a new adventure, seeking to continue the Tene'ztari legacy. He traveled for many years with his constant companion, the shadow dragon, Tebitnezalrae. Tebitnezalrae had been sealed inside of Kaz when he was younger. The two of them did not see eye to eye for the first decade of their coexistence, though with time Tebitnezalrae warmed to the hard yet compassionate soul of Kaz.
During the events of the Last Dragon, Kaz and Tebitnezalrae were sealed away into an amethyst, where their souls slowly fused into one. The amethyst was eventually formed into a ring known as Shadow Star, which itself was wrought from the Tene'ztari guildmaster's ring.
Many, many centuries later, Ginny found Shadow Star and stored it away for safe keeping. Later still, Es'tiel Datoris was given Shadow Star as a gift for healing Ginny's men.
Kaz began to awaken, appearing before Es'tiel and giving him advice. He took over his body from time to time when Es'tiel was in grave danger, saving his life on numerous occasions.
Es'tiel promised to free Kaz and Teb's souls, but could he do it?
