Alsan (
Arpish: Άλσαν, [ˈɐɮːɐnˠ]; Tira Vellan: Αλσάν, [alˈsan]) is a town in Southwest
Tira Vella. It is historically the largest permanent
Arpish settlement, though many transients also live temporarily in the fields surrounding the town. Alsan is centred around a stone monument called the
Jürnol that sits atop a bare hill, and is an important place of pilgrimage in Arpish society.
The Jürnol
The Jürnol is a megalithic stone structure of unknown age, but thought to be thousands of years old. It consists of three primary structures: a central spire that reaches a height of about 6 metres, an inner ring of large boulders, and an outer ring of smaller stones. It is also traditional that arps build cairns in and around the structure. The place is considered sacred as the centre of all creation, and is closely associated with
Uachmüzöl.
