Metlan†
Metlan was a Karanesian language spoken in antiquity along the Gold Coast and Southlands of Tira Vella. Despite their proximity to the literate civilisations of Sossis, they avoided interactions with them, as Karanesians tended to avoid already settled areas. This meant they never developed any writing, and all record we have of the Metlans comes from early Arxian records of them. Based on the records of names and places (especially hydronyms) recorded by the Arxians, Metlan is known to be Karanesian, and its theorised to be a Tratian language that developed from settlers originally from Stele Island who settled in northeastern Tira Vella.
