Old Skorbund†

Old Skorbund, sometimes called West Salic, was a Salic language which represented the earliest stage of the Western Salic languages. It was spoken in western Sossis, specifically in Derash, Kostovia, and Ros, around the time of the Sossian Dark Age until it diverged into northern and southern branches around 1200. It was briefly used along the Gold Coast between approximately 750 and 1000 during the Skorbund Invasions against the Tira Vellan Tetrarchy and Arxia. After the fall of Duekmenia, several Skorbund kingdoms would emerge in what had been the western half of the empire, and several would claim continuation of the imperial succession, most famously the Kadanians. While the ruling dynasties of West Dvekmenia were Skorbund, they would adopt local Dvekmenic languages. As such, records in Old Skorbund are sparse, existing mostly in various stelae and runestones, as well as small personal items like fibulae and combs.
