Tratian Confederacy
The Tratian Confederacy was a loose association of states in the Tratian Archipelago near the mouth of the Inner Sea. The confederacy emerged informally among Tira Vellan city-states to resist Varaso Kingdom conquest.
While technically the confederacy existed from 1340 to 2610, there are really two periods in which the confederacy existed as a real force not simply in name that the states of the archipelago would pay lip service to. The first, often called the Old Tratian Confederacy, was created as an alliance against Varaso invasion, and while the confederacy continued to exist in name, the war between Sabros and Moina in 1406 is generally seen as having ended the confederacy. The second period, the New Tratian Confederacy or the Tobacco League, emerged as a mercantile and defensive league in the 19th century to protect and further the interests of merchants and plantation owners involved mostly in the tobacco trade.
