A wendir was a cre, ature made from a man, usually a hermit or wild-man, cursed by fey with a type of lycanthropy, an insatiable appetite for human flesh, and a desire for the destruction of human settlements. They are attested by the Salic peoples of western Sossis, surviving in oral tradition long after the Burning after which they seemed mostly to disappear. They were written about second-hand well into the middle ages, most notably as the "Wéondis" in the Æðeling Bestiary:   Wendir would have the form of a man, though usually ragged and unkempt, though they were not known to be capable of speech or rational thought. When hunting (animals or men), they would undergo a lycanthropic transformation into a creature resembling a bipedal predatory deer. When in this form, they would attack voraciously with immense strength and frenzy.   (Skorbund ᚹᛖᚾᛞᛁᚱ)
