Blaque Farm

Blaque Farm

Blaque Farm is reknowned for its self-harvested scalemail armour. It's located out in the middle of the wilderness and receives few visitors. Established three gnomic generations ago, farm is currently owned by Belvarn, Snelvit, and Pakmell Blaque. Belvarn Blaque is the official owner and proprietor of Blaque Farm, although he'd rather spend time shaping and crafting scalemail than deal with bookkeeping. Snelvit focuses on wrangling and managing the overall care of the alligator herds but leaves the delicate task of forced mating to Pakmell.

Legacy

The Blaque Farm has been in the family for three generations. [GNOME OWNER] built a traditional farm with a large collection of prized chickens. One morning he awoke to find a plump alligator sitting contentedly among a pile of chicken feathers. After replenishing the chicken population two more times, he decided it would be easier and more profitable to farm alligators. Over the generations, the farm has expanded to include a healthy and vibrant congregation of Alimerger, Ainile, Aimurile Alligator used for scalemail armor.

Farm Layout

The farm is divided into several sections: a hatchery, roaming grounds, feeding area, supply area, skinning tables, and tanning racks. The area is surrounded by a thick 5.5 ft metal fence reinforced with security spells designed to keep both unwanted visitors out and prized goods inside.

Surrounding Areas

The Blaque Farm is a self-sustaining settlement several days from other towns, primarily because a large congregation of alligators tends to bring down the appeal of new development. Merchants and caravans are frequent visitors and will often trade needed goods for a hot alligator dish and small leather ornaments. When it's not mating season, Pakmell Blaque will travel to nearby towns and sell small scalemail goods and discuss prices and orders with interested nobles.

Scalemail Armor

Blacke Farm has a national reputation for its scalemail armor. It takes Belvarn an average of four months and three aimurile alligators to craft a complete armor set. Because of the thick hide, it is difficult to get a clear and clean cut desired by many high-paying nobles. The leather is boiled in water, coated with an acidic brine, and left to dry for two weeks before being shaped for an individual wearer.

Purchasing Armor

Purchasers are required to visit the Blaque Farm a minimum of three times. The first time the purchaser must select and kill three aimurile alligators. A rough model is made for basic shaping. Two months later, the purchaser returns for more tailoring. When the armor is completed, the purchaser is notified and returns for a final fitting. Most adjustments needed at this point can be fixed in a day or two. Purchasers usually stay at the farm until this process is over.
