The
Sea Princes and
Keoland have been involved in a cycle of revolving wars for the past decades. Most humans cannot remember a time when the threat of a Sea Prince invasion seemed unavoidable. This is the latest in a series of treaties brokering a delicate peace between the two governments. While many optimists proclaim and end to hostilities, most
Keoland-ites are skeptical that the current situation will last long.
King Scotti
King Scotti came to power the seventh year of the 11 Years War and took it as a personal point of pride to secure the nation from the Sea Princes and guarantee his legacy as an effective and shrewd military leader. Unfortunately, this was not the case. King Scotti and his military advisors made some drastically damaging tactical decisions that resulted in the decimation of several
army battalions. King Scotti tried to regain the tactical advantage his inherited from his father by raising taxes to fund military recruitment. This has led to rising tensions in small coastal towns like
Saltmarsh
Loopholes
Conflicts between the two countries seem to start with little rhyme or reason, and rulers in both countries often try to hide loopholes into the treaties. Both sides are aware of this, but presume that they are in a better position of leverage, and neither side wants to be caught at a severe disadvantage when the next inevitable conflict begins. The current treaty severely limits the number ships allowed in the
Keoland Navy. King Scotti agreed to this condition anticipating the dramatic expansion of
Hummingbird airships.
History of the 11 Years War
in close stalemates between the Two Kingdoms, with each side framing any treaties or ceasefires as landmark victories. The 11 Years War was a particularity devastating defeat for the King Scotti.
