Dusk Edrit

The Dusk Edrit is a fairly common, nocturnal marsupial in the Makura Wilds. It is an arboreal frugivore, and is commonly found snacking on Bawa Fruits high in the trees.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Dusk Edrit is an extremely small creature, reaching only two to three ounces in weight. They have small, hand-like paws ending in sharp, curved claws. Their tails are long, prehensile, and partially naked on the underside to help them grip. Their eyes are large with huge pupils and little visible iris. They have notably short muzzles.   The Dusk Edrit's fur is primarily dark gray on top with a white underside and face. Their paw pads and nose are black. Their mucosal membranes in their mouths are also a black color, unlike the typical pink of other creatures.   Dusk Edrits have a spur on their wrists that is capable of injecting a mild venom into predators. This venom causes numbness and a burning sensation in most human-sized beings.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dusk Edrits are born blind, deaf, and naked. They spend the first several weeks of their life in their mother's well-developed, fur-lined pouch, suckling at one of her four teats.

Ecology and Habitats

The Dusk Edrit is usually found high in the trees of the Makura Wilds. They will spend their entire life in the trees, not touching the leaf-littered ground unless there is no other choice.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Dusk Edrits are frugivores. Their favorite fruit to eat is the Bawa Fruit, which they eat whole despite the large pit.

Biological Cycle

Dusk Edrits are most active in the crepuscular hours of dusk and dawn, although they are considered nocturnal. They go into a state of semi-torpor during the day, and are difficult to wake from their deep sleep.
