Bogwatch
Bogwatch is a forest inside the Plains of Pesht, bordered to the north by the Githind Swamp.
Geography
The forest exists on a fractured massif of the surrounding karst structure of the plains, allowing it to stand above the wetlands to its north, almost as if it is looming over the marshlands, hence its name. The massif that Bogwatch grows from enables sufficient drainage of the mineral-rich wetlands to its north, allowing the forest to grow, whilst also creating a craggy gulley-filled topography, resulting in a difficult to navigate region. Due to this, Bogwatch has long been a haven for those who wish not to be found, supporting colonies of bandits and other reviled outlaws and creatures.
Ecosystem
Bogwatch appears to harbour little in the way of large fauna, though birds and arboreal rodents are common. The trees of Bogwatch are typically spruce and fir, accompanied by cround-cover ferns. It is believed that several supernatural species may inhabit Bogwatch as well, with rumours of starved Festrogs and potentially fey creatures such as Wisps existing within its depths. Given the craggy nature of Bogwatch, and the dense canopy, the region is unusully dank, foggy, and dark, with little sunlight reaching the forest floor.
History
It is believed that a portion of Empress Penka IX Vekhen's invading force was trapped and lost within Bogwatch c.94 BE, and that they left behind a sizable amount of treasure and provisions from their baggage train. In recent times, Arnott Aquila, Belgar Ashbrow, Chess, and Doriatabular Drithovich of the Scofflaws' Guild have discovered the location of a bandit camp within Bogwatch.
