Grand Consular

The Grand Consular is the leader of the organization known as the Council of Knowledge, located in Minas Amer. While the council makes most decisions through diplomatic voting means, the Grand Consular tends to abstain from voting unless the council is at an impasse. In that case, the Grand Consular will make a ruling that the council will follow.

Qualifications

The Grand Consular tends to have a background of wisdom and real-world interactions, allowing them to make educated decisions based not only on theoretical but practical experience.

Appointment

There are two ways a consular can be appointed to the position of Grand Consular:

They can be selected by the current Grand Consular. Those selected by the Grand Consular have performed various great services to Minas Amer, as well as the Council of Knowledge.
Should the Grand Consular pass away without appointing a successor, a current member of the Council of Knowledge can be appointed to the position of Grand Consular by majority vote.

Responsibilities

The Grand Consular will head the meetings of the Council of Knowledge. Her word is final, should the Council not be able to come to a decision on matters. The Grand Consular will also monitor the status of Minas Amer, and be present when the Council hears from members of Minas Amer who come to the council with issues.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Once a person becomes Grand Consular, they will remain in the position until they pass away or until they step down. The Council of Knowledge can vote a Grand Consular out of the position, but it must be a unanimous vote. To date, the Council of Knowledge has never voted to remove a Grand Consular from their role.
