Session 4: The Haunted

General Summary

Madeleina "Maddie" Emri, unconscious. Roewyn Nightshade of Silence, unconscious. Keen Ocelot in Bronze, badly injured and barely standing. Argus Dunrevel and Pip Brimbleberry, prepared to do what they can to keep the others safe. And a wisp of ghostly smoke rising from the engine of a crashed and wrecked airship. Uncertainty surrounded our outlaws, facing something they had not encountered before. Keen Ocelot eventually understood that exorcising the spirit trapped within the engine, the damage, the flying heated cogs, the scalding steam, and the deafening whistle would all stop. And so he laid his hands on the engine, and quiet finally befell the airship.   Following the exorcism, the group gathered together to patch their wounds and ensure that both Maddie and Roewyn were able to continue on the journey. Though some in the group had trouble preparing the bandages correctly, over time, the group was able to rest and recuperate. They did spend the evening near the airship, but nothing troubled them but the wailing coming from the scrapyard. They awoke in the morning, ready to tackle the airship and continue on their path to ridding the scrapyard of the mutated gnolls.   The group successfully scaled the large vehicle with some work and slid down to the other side. What awaited them was a band of mutated gnolls. Twisted and changed from time spent in the Mana Wastes, the clan immediately attacked the outlaws, showing no mercy. The group, though, had begun to work together with each encounter. Though the gnolls were terrifying to look at, they were easily dispatched. The group did find some gold and silver to help them on their way, but no more. Keen Ocelot chose this time to alert Lord Glass that they had finished removing the gnolls from the scrapyard. Lord Glass questioned whether they had also taken care of the "big one." Keen then relayed to the group that there was more to do.   As they continued through the scrapyard, they came upon an area that was besieged by green mold, bulging mushrooms, and powdery fungus. It was an odd sight to find vegetation in a scrapyard filled with metal, wood, and alchemical experiments. As they moved through the area, they found the ground difficult and slippery to move through. About halfway through their trek, they were once again attacked. But this time, it appeared to be living mushrooms of some sort. They spoke no words, only scowling at our outlaws. With quick thinking, the outlaws instantly dispatched two of these beings, leaving only one alive. It was only a matter of time before our group finished off the final fungus.   They could finally see the pipe they needed to exit from where they stood to return to the Barrel and Bullet saloon. Pip immediately moved toward the pipe while Keen Ocelot ran back to notify Lord Glass that there were plant beings farther in the scrapyard. That is when Bristlebane attacked. Though our adventurers never learned the name of the large mutated gnoll, Bristlebane had realized that his clan had been slaughtered, and it was time to exact revenge. With Pip so near, Bristlebane immediately struck, though doing little damage as Pip leaped out of the way of the gnoll's whip. The rest of the group quickly headed towards Pip, though the distance took some time to cover. In the end, the outlaws were able to dispatch Bristlebane and prepare for their trek through the sewer.
