Sisters of the Midnight Cloth
Mythology & Lore
Before there was light, darkness encompassed reality and from that dark chaos the goddess Nyx arose birthing everything beneath the night sky.
Divine Origins
The origins of the Sisters of the Midnight Cloth comes from a female sect that split off from the main faith of the Church of the Dawn Sol, feeling disillusioned with the Dawn Sol's increasing hostility and censorship of aspects of the religion the sect apostasy from the main church to worship its own faith. Feeling that the teachings of the Dawn Sol was to solely focused on Ather and ignores the balance that must be found between the dark of night and the light of day, the Sisters of the Midnight Cloth instead found faith in Nyx the goddess of night who they believed to be the mother of Ather and that which came before the light.
Cosmological Views
The world is born through a maintained balance between that which dwells in the light and that which dwells in the dark. Monsters and their spawn are but agents of balance much the same as the light dwelling races and through the struggles between the two a cycle is established. Light dwellers are rather new in origin compared to the much older and longed lived species that stalked the dark nights so it is only rational that the dark and night existed long before the time of the light of day.
Tenets of Faith
- Balance should be maintained between the transition from light to dark and night into day.
- With balance comes understanding, guard not only those who dwell in the light but also those that reside in the dark from unjust harm
