Duchy of the Wetlands
The western Sceyan duchy of the Wetlands is a part of the Kingdom of Sceya, a province of the Gold Empire. The Wetlands consists largely of bogs, bayous and rivers where it pushes into the South Sea towards Whiesia. The Wetlanders, as the local populace of the Wetlands are called, largely consist of West Sceyans and Hill Dwarves of For Vahn, many of whom are fishermen or make a living shrimping in the bayou.
The Wetlands is one of the oldest duchies of the Kingdom of Sceya, being reconquered long ago by the Amrikh Empire successor of Itn-Ari. Most of the human Wetlanders are themselves descendants of Amrikh settlers in the region, who intermarried with local Sceyans. The ruins of the Amrikh empire still stand, and several of them have been declared safe from the undead menace and repopulated by the scions of Itn-Ari. The Wetlands are ruled by duke Theodor Ari from the ducal capital of Amrikai, though while he is on military expeditions it is ruled by his viceroy, Jakob Falch.
