Arachnorok - The Drow Guardian Kaiju
D&D 5e Based - Campaign 2: The War-Torn Continent (Arc 3: Undermine the Underdark)
With the Illithid campaign having found solid ground and is now established as a dominating resource of scientific expansion for the city of Trosall from above, the once proud city of Xil'zyr stands in ruin and is overtaken by various forms of intellect devourers and once proud drow now turned thrall. Those drow that were able to flee back into the darkness of the underdark now find themselves in solitude and an attempt to rebuild the in the harsh environment that has fallen before them, but still grip tightly on the spear of revenge to take back their city. Within this group of drow, there is a single male who has expanded his knowledge beyond this plane of existence and has stared into the web of fate to seek the answers to their redemption and their struggles. The arachnomancer Velstryn Morthil has devoted most of his life to the studies of the arcane through the lens of Lolth; peering through a web and attempting to understand the fractacls and shattered images of divinity and fate, he has dove deeper than most would dare. Unfortunately, Velstryn found that sometimes when you stare too deep into the void, the void sometimes stares back and much like the web of fate, his mind has fractured sending him spiraling into fits of madness at times. Even with all of this, there is still a single word that he continuously hears echoing in his waking mind and beating like a drum in his dreams that will be the key to their liberation: Arachnorok.
The ancient beast Arachnorok was a gift from the goddess Lolth from long ago that slumbers in the darkest regions of the underdark and awaits the war call to achieve it's rightful purpose. As a guardian of the race as a whole, the bearer must overcome the trials laid out in the temple of Draez'nithra Hollow. Inside standing guard from what seems the beginning of creation is an ancient drider, sworn by the goddess to protect Arachnorok until the time comes and one worthy enough to summon forth the great power of the beast. Although the strength of the great beast would surely advance the drow in conquest, the purpose of the beast still remains of that of a guardian. Strength comes from yourself and the great war spider is only to be called upon during the greatest time of need; this was the promise handed down should the worshippers of its creater should fall.
The great spider stands tall enough for 10 grown men to ride atop of the beast into battle and has venom potent enough to melt flesh and disintegrate armor. Although great in size, the creature has the capability to fit through most spaces that would seem too small for her. It's eight glowing eyes assist in its perception from all around the battle field. Even the hairs on its body pick up the vibrations of the battle field and allow it to sense both friend and foe in the heat of battle. Soon Arachnorok will awaken to destroy the elder brain and free all those enslaved, avenge all those who have fallen, and place the drow back in their rightful place within the underdark.
