Didun - The Elven Farming City

Nestled deep within the confines of Ventford Woods lies the farming town of Didun. With wells and tiny springs all over the area, the land is rich and fertile growing a thick forest and rich farmland harvested and maintained by mostly elves with others intermingled. The focal point of the town is a massive willow tree simply called the "Grandfather Tree". Legend speaks of a great battle when the forest was young on a new settlement of elves by barbarian raiders. The elves prayed to their gods to send them help seemingly overnight a willow tree sprouted up. A massive Treant awakened on the next raid and decimated the barbarians; when asked how they could repay him for his kindness he simply stated, "Watch over my children until I awaken from my slumber. I will want to see how much they've grown and what they've seen." With that, he planted himself in the ground and the elves tended to the forest. The farm plots are strategically placed around the trees so as to not harm them as well as the village itself. Didun is governed by a noble aristocrat, the elf lady Carta. After harvest, there is a week-long party that occurs to celebrate a bountiful year; after winter when spring starts, the celebration of life and death begins. There is no graveyard and all bodies are returned to the earth and a cleric of the Raven Queen performs all rights.
