The Abramoore Family
The Abramoore Family is the ruling family dating back to before the Tear. Traditionally, the Overking has always been succeeded by the eldest living son of the reigning king -- though some exceptions have been made. In 155 AT Bróccin Abramoore succeeded his late father in place of his brother Albin, who was deemed unfit to serve as king. Most famously, Gawena Abramoore risked charges of treason to succeed her late father instead of allowing her younger brother Cullen to do so. She renounced her title of Princess and avoided political marriage by claiming the title of King and becoming the first woman to inherit the throne. While in power, she changed the law to state that the eldest living child (regardless of gender) would inherit the throne of Overking. Despite no longer needing to claim the title of King to rule, Gawena's great-grandaughter King Adelaide would go on to do the same, and Crowned Prince Kasha Abramoore is set to follow in their footsteps.
The crest of the Abramoore Family is a sea serpent curled around a sword. Before Beolin Abramoore usurped the throne, the family crest bore a rearing bear. It was changed by his son, Odart Abramoore, who invested a great sum into expanding and perfecting the Occadian Navy into the powerful force it is today.
