The Giatti

"Magic... for hire..."

The Giatti is a conclave of mages and other magic users who comprise an underground mercenary group in Hariel Majour, right under the watchful eye of Hex Chain. Their services range from the performance of simple (and complex) magic spells, taking on adventuring jobs (and even battles) as a fully-functional mercenary company, and even the "unofficial" training of paying hedge mages who wish to hone their craft.
It's quite remarkable since the Giatti often weaponize their magic in the north, that they haven't been persecuted or even approached by Hex Chain. Many think this is due to the fact that the Giatti is run by "Grintharke the Mercurial," half-brother of Triel Abernath, the king of Wyeth's personal "court mage." Grintharke is half human, half orc, but his intelligence is off the scale. He was disallowed to study at the Tower of Light in his youth, and as a result, he was trained by his half-sister in the ways of magic. Both children showed significant innate talent, carried by their blood, needing only to be nurtured.

Even seemingly protected from the eye of the king, many members of the Giatti choose to disguise their appearance with masks or shawls.
Good magicians are hard to find, especially in the north, and as such, the Giatti is open to members of all races and creeds. They tend to seem like a motley bunch upon first glance, but this only serves to make their enemies underestimate their powers, something they use to their extreme advantage.
It is rumored that the Giatti have been secretly employed by King Clarent Wyeth on numerous occasions to deal with sensitive issues not suited to the image of the crown.
The Giatti headquarters is located in the city of Sacrament on Hariel Majour.

Structure

Run by a single leader, who wields complete power. Members are not bound by any form of contract and may leave at any time, though it is not known if any have ever availed themselves of this.

Public Agenda

"Magic... for hire." The mercenaries of the Giatti work for the highest bidder, despite political or moral affiliation. If you need magic, and you have coin, the Giatti are there for you.

Assets

The Giatti has amassed a decent (if small) fortune over the years, and their horde also includes many magical devices and weapons. "The right tool for the job," is a common saying amongst their ranks.

History

No one knows exactly when the Giatti was officially founded, but allied magicians "in hiding" have existed ever since The Sundering and the arcane persecutions that followed the cataclysmic event.
