The King's Law, Wyeth, Regarding Magic

"How magic is regarded in the north..."

The King's Law: Magic & Magical Items   Much of what stands for law in Wyeth regarding magic and magical items is little more than tradition held over from the Sundering. It is primarily driven by the church, which still has in its doctrine a hatred for the "Dark Arts." The magically answered prayers of their priests are not considered the same.   The closest analogy to this magical prohibition is that of our own historical prohibition of alcohol in the 1920's. Something that everyone paid lip service to, but many (even authorities in power) violated.   The King Wyeth himself keeps a court mage in his counsel, "out of necessity" to stay ahead of his magically inclined enemies of state. The current king, Clarent Wyeth keeps the bizarre warlock Triel Abernath constantly at his side, despite concerns from his constituents.   In fact, the court mage (or magister) is often trained at the Colleges of Wick, which are partially funded by the crown, in order to keep the kingdom up to date with any potential arcane adversaries.
