Welcome to Gran Kora

The Rosewood Marches

So you're thinking about joining my D&D Fifth Edition campaign called the Rosewood Marches. But you're not sure what it entails here's some more information.

What is a West Marches/Living World style campaign?

This is a large shared campaign, run by the players. That means that there's a group of players that is bigger than a regular D&D party. And those players themselves decide what they want to do and when to play. You talk to the other players, assemble a party and tell the DM where you want to go. The players need to have goals and take initiative.

Do I need any experience?

No! All types of experienced players are welcome although Gran Kora is a deadly world and we use some variant and homebrew rules which make the game significantly harder, so beware!

What's the setting?

The Rosewood Marches are set in Gran Kora, a wild an untamed planet full of dangerous creatures and ruined structures of an age long passed. Magic is scarce and the world is unforgiving. If there ever were gods, they've abandoned us for sure. But there's a safehaven called Rosewood, where adventurers and colonists are showing up to profit of this uncovered land. Feel free to take a look around the website and uncover as much as you want, although reading everything is definitely not necessary!

Where's the map?

If the players want a map they should draw a map. If you manage to hire cartographers in game you might be able to buy a accurate (to a certain extent) map. But like actual medieval times. Most information isn't certain to begin with. This is true for most quests, dungeons, items, etc. You can discover and draw everything yourselves.

The Tools

We play exclusively in person. We use WorldAnvil for information about the world, here you need to create a character and join the campaign for easy notetaking, discussion and information. We use discord to communicate session times, parties and objectives. As for your character sheet, you can use WorldAnvil and/or DnDBeyond to manage your character sheet (ask for the DnDBeyond link if you need it). But there's a strict no laptop policy at the table, so factor this into account.

Getting Started!

So you've made up your mind and you want to join. Contact me to see if there are any spots still available and for the discord invite, and other necessary links. Meanwhile you can take a look at Creating Your Character and develop an idea of what you want to play and do in the campaign. You can also talk to the other players or browse the website some more. Most importantly, playing in my campaign is not free. I can't afford to spend great amounts of time prepping and running a game at this scale for free. But it's also not expensive coming in at 1 EUR/session for each player that participates in that session. And because of the design of the campaign, there aren't any mandatory session. Your first session and your session zero is always free.   You don't need to know the rules to D&D 5e, but if you're interested in that take a look in House Rules for more details surrounding the rules.
