Half-Orcs

Half-Orcs are named such for their close relation to both Mankind and Orc-kind. Most half-orcs are a result of Orcs and Man descending from common ancestry rather than direct relation, but one Orc parent and one Human parent will result in a half-orc as well. Half-Orcs find themselves far more closely entwined with city life than their full Orcish cousins who prefer to live in the wild. As such, many Half-Orcs closely assimilate into the cultures of Mankind and as such worship the same deities. Many differentiations of Orcish blood exist across the realm, for example, the Long-Tusked Orcs of the Ruby Savannah, and the Oni tribes of Ikamura.   Half-Orcs can be recognized by their green toned skin and pronounced teeth.  They are also often slightly taller than an average human.   A subrace of Orc known as the Oni exist on the island nation of Ikamura.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Half-orcs’ greyish pigmentation, sloping foreheads, jutting jaws, prominent teeth, and towering builds make their orcish heritage plain for all to see. Half-orcs stand between 5 and 7 feet tall and usually weigh between 180 and 250 pounds.   Orcs regard battle scars as tokens of pride and ornamental scars as things of beauty. Other scars, though, mark an orc or half-orc as a former slave or a disgraced exile. Any half-orc who has lived among or near orcs has scars, whether they are marks of humiliation or of pride, recounting their past exploits and injuries. Such a half-orc living among humans might display these scars proudly or hide them in shame.

Naming Traditions

Half-orcs usually have names appropriate to the culture in which they were raised. A half-orc who wants to fit in among humans might trade an orc name for a human name. Some half-orcs with human names decide to adopt a guttural orc name because they think it makes them more intimidating.   Examples:   Male Orc Names: Dench, Feng, Gell, Henk, Holg, Imsh, Keth, Krusk, Mhurren, Ront, Shump, Thokk   Female Orc Names: Baggi, Emen, Engong, Kansif, Myev, Neega, Ovak, Ownka, Shautha, Sutha, Vola, Volen, Yevelda
