The Honest Men

The Honest Men are a guild of thieves that operate under the front of religion. They operate out of a sewer network under the Port Penitent. Their lair is located below the Church of Fortuna that they use as a front for their operations. Their ranks include fencers, counterfeiters, muggers, pickpockets, and burglars.   The Honest Men are organized into sections in accordance with skillset. Expert con-artists find themselves under the direction of “the Face”, acting as members of the church. Those with fast fingers find themselves in the employ of “the Pauper”, a young girl with a penchant for pickpocketing. The nimble are aligned with “the Cat”, an expert burglar with a talent for second story work. Those who lack speed but make up for it with muscle, are under the direction of “the Fist”, acting as bodyguards and enforcers for the rest of the guild and participating in shakedowns and muggings. The last section is run by “the Fence”, and operates to sell stolen goods and procure equipment for the rest of the guild.

Structure

The guild doesn't have a single leader, and instead operates with a council of leaders that manage each facet of the guild. The leaders meet regularly to ensure the guild stays on the same page and running smoothly.

Culture

The Honest Men have a culture of silence. They keep a pact of honour among thieves and don't steal from anyone within their own gang. They don't extend this same courtesy to the other guilds of Port Penitent and constantly vie for power with the Dove Street Rum Runners.

Public Agenda

To the public, the Honest Men are a religious sect. They operate publicly using their conmen, managed by The Face, and pretend to be a church dedicated to the worship of Fortuna. They claim to donate money to the beggars and orphans of Port Penitent, but in reality are simply paying off their own pickpockets.
