Yuan-Ti Purebloods

The Yuan-ti hail from the jungles of Southern Eldranore. Yuan-ti heritage is split into castes known as Abominations, Malisons, and Purebloods. The Abominations and Malisons are seen as above the Purebloods, as the closer one resembles Man, the more lowly one is considered in Yuan-ti culture. Long ago, the Abominations led the Malisons and Purebloods in a campaign to conquer the entirety of Eldranore, starting with the deserts that would later become Zul Garahn. As their influence spread, they brought down an iron fist on the nomadic tribes of Nyan'hari native to the area. Fearing life under Yuan-ti rule, the Nyan'hari clans united under the first Sultana, Zubiria. Even united, the Nyan'hari still struggled to fight a losing war. And so they sought the aid of the Aarakocra and Elves that lived in the surrounding area, forging an alliance that won them the war.   During the war, groups of Pureblood Yuan-ti, unhappy with being forced into servitude in a war they had no say in, left Eldranore entirely, seeking their independence across the seas in Bastila. They settled in the jungles to the south and found sanctuary under Deimos the Architect, who allowed them to maintain their own ruler, the Ssatrap of Avrana.   Now centuries later, the Abominations and Malisons mostly live in fractured small communities, often in cult-like worship of the old ways of Blood Sorcery. The Purebloods that remained in Eldranore, who were so often mistreated by the upper castes of Yuan-ti, were accepted, reluctantly at first, into cities like Al Zahar, now living normally among the Nyan'hari, Elves, and Aarakocra.   Yuan-Ti typically only worship the gods so that they might gain power through them, and are willing to do whatever it takes to become even more powerful.  The Purebloods that assimilated with other cultures often worship the same gods as other cultures.     However, the Abominations, Malisons, and some of the more fanatical Purebloods still believe in the old ways of worship.  They worship Zrasha-Kiriz, who is known as the Many-Headed God to the Yuan-ti people.  Zrasha-Kiriz means "Sun-Eater" in ancient Yuan-ti dialect.  Devout believers, often cultists, believe that the Many-Headed God will return to devour the sun goddess Brava, extinguishing all Miracles and healing magic and plunging the Star of Lorien into darkness.  Empowered by this act, Zrasha-Kiriz will then turn its attention to the next God.   Yuan-Ti have a strong resistance to most poisons and can often be seen whispering in hisses to snakes.

Basic Information

Anatomy

There are multiple types of Yuan-Ti but these creatures are always a mix of a serpent and a human. Some of the Yuan-Ti look more like snakes than others do, and some look more like humans, being nearly indistinguishable. There are three main types of Yuan-Ti; the Abominations, the Malisons, and the Purebloods.  Purebloods are the most human-like of the Yuan-Ti, with two legs, two arms, and a human head, often looking exactly like humans except for slits for eyes, split tongue and/or occasional scales.

Civilization and Culture
