Numena

Numena is Magic Go-juice, functioning in a familiar way to many other Fantasy settings. But, being derived from the power of the Demiorgos to exert control over reality, Numena has a polarity-- one of 7 thrones, and a fragment of an idea or form-- called an Aspect-- it can be a simple idea like ‘running water’ to a complex one like ‘the porous boundary between being and time’.
Fragmented numena is a very new phenomenon, and is highly unstable: smaller sources of Numena are often fragmentary, and seek to become ‘complete’, and attempts to do so by either merging with similarly-aspected numena, attaching to a more complete organism or object-- such as a Human, river, or particularly imposing rock.
Anything that represents a material expression of what Aspect it represents is fair game. This unification is far from complete, or stable. No two clusters of Numena are alike, and when two clusters combine, their aspects combine, becoming more complex.
If enough Numena groups together, it may gain a material form, called a Fiend. Fiends are corporeal, and can be attacked and destroyed, scattering the numena that created them.
If enough Numena groups together around a mortal soul, that soul may "catch fire", creating a Cambion.
