Captain-Navy

Captain (Navy) is the highest rank of senior officer. A captain (Navy) is senior to a commander or a lieutenant-colonel, and junior to a commodore or brigadier-general.

Responsibilities

Typical appointments for captains (Navy) include:
  • Commanding officer of a naval base;
  • Commanding officer of a large school or research establishment;
  • Commanding officer of a auxiliary vessel;
  • Chief of staff of a formation staff, or a director-general position on an administrative staff;
  • Foreign military attaché.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Depends on the navy they serve in but usually either have 1 or more of the following elements on their uniforms
  • four 1⁄2-inch (1.3 cm) stripes (one of which may have a executive curl)
