On his fifteenth birthday ser Newall Foxworth was knighted by his tutor ser Elysande Haynes. He chose to take up the name Foxworth and his sigil, a foxhead encircled with forget-me-nots on a white field, in deference to his brother Tyon Cray, to make clear that he had no intention of inheriting from his adoptive father ser Matthis Cray.
Following his knighthood ser Newall entered into the service of his father's house.
